The war against drugs campaign will be decisive to make the state drug-free : Daljit Singh Mangat

Patiala Division Commissioner Daljit Singh Mangat today made a surprise visit to the drug de-addiction center located at the Civil Hospital Fatehgarh Sahib and the government rehabilitation center located at Brahman Majra, Sirhind.During the visit, he inquired about the well-being of the people who are giving up drugs and also got suggestions from them about the steps being taken by the government to help them give up drugs completely and integrate into society as good citizens.Deputy Commissioner Dr. Sona Thind was also present on this occasion.

Mr. Mangat told the youth giving up drugs that drugs are such a scourge that they not only make the drug users economically poor but also degrade the users socially. He said that the war against drugs has been launched by the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann to create a drug-free society and drug patients should take maximum benefit to get rid of drugs so that they can once again lead a healthy life in society.

He appealed to the youth giving up drugs that they have to move out from here with a promise that you will not turn towards this scourge again and that maximum cooperation will be extended to the government in this fight against drugs. Mr. Mangat said that this campaign launched to eradicate drugs will play a decisive role in making Punjab an exemplary state, and our young generation will play an important role in making Punjab drug-free by repenting from drugs.

He said that the Punjab government will also provide vocational training in government drug de-addiction centers to include the people recovering from drugs in the mainstream of society so that those people can start their own businesses after quitting drugs and raise the standard of living of their families.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Sona Thind said that the district administration is soon starting vocational training courses for the skill development of the people recovering from drugs, and loans will also be provided under various government schemes to the people who give up drugs after completing the course so that they do not have to face any kind of problem in starting their own businesses.

On this occasion, Civil Surgeon Dr. Davinderjit Kaur, Deputy Medical Commissioner Dr. Sarita, District Revenue Officer Karan Gupta, Psychiatrist Dr. Sanpreet Kaur, Dr. Ritu Dhiman, and SMO Dr. KD Singh were also present.
