CGC Landran’s Chandigarh College of Hospitality Management & Catering Technology (CCHMCT) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Starbucks, the world's largest coffeehouse chain. As part of this collaboration, post an evaluation process, students from CCHMCT will be able to pursue a six-month retainership training programme with Starbucks in addition to having access to specialized training programs aimed at enhancing their practical skills, understanding of new trends in technology and employment prospects in India's rapidly growing coffee sector, helping bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements.

A report by Redseer Strategy Consultants states that “India's out-of-home coffee market is projected to reach between $2.6 and $3.2 billion by 2028, with a significant growth rate (CAGR) of 15-20%, driven by the increasing perception of coffee as a lifestyle choice and the expansion of the premium coffee segment.”

The projected growth of this industry translates into enhanced career prospects for hospitality management students. The surge in global coffee consumption also opens doors to international career opportunities, making trained professionals highly sought after in premium hospitality chains worldwide.

Additionally, market expansion also increases career opportunities particularly in coffeehouse management, barista expertise, store managers, coffee masters and supply chain professionals in the expanding café culture and Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) operations. Ms. Mansi Choudhary, HR Specialist at Starbucks said, "Interacting with CGC students was a positive experience.

They displayed engagement and interest in our operations and the career opportunities Starbucks offers." Dr. Vimal Kumar, Director-Principal, CCHMCT, CGC Landran said that this MoU offers students a great opportunity to gain practical training in coffeehouse operations, preparing them for careers in both  India and abroad.

It also underscores CCHMCT’s commitment to providing industry-relevant education and enhancing graduate employability in the growing hospitality sector.
