Chandigarh Business School of Administration (CBSA), CGC Landran, organised a weeklong online Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Harnessing Artificial Intelligence (AI): A guide for Educators and Researchers.

The FDP was sponsored by the AICTE Training and Learning Academy (ATAL). More than 40 members of faculty from CBSA, CGC Landran participated in this programme which was aimed at enhancing AI literacy among educators and researchers equipping them with the knowledge and skills required to effectively harness AI in teaching and research domains. 

The programme sought to bridge the gap between theoretical AI concepts and their practical applications equipping the participants with essential AI-knowledge thereby driving innovation and AI-driven education. 

In addition to accentuating teaching and research methodologies using AI tools, it also provided participants with hands-on experience with AI frameworks, algorithms, their real-world applications in addition to discussing ethical considerations and responsible AI practices in both academics and the industry. 

Dr. Ramandeep Saini, Director Principal, CBSA, CGC Landran emphasized AI’s transformative impact on education and research, underscoring the need for faculty members to integrate AI-driven methodologies into their teaching and scholarly work. 

Over the course of the week, sessions conducted as part of this FDP introduced CGC’s faculty to AI fundamentals, machine learning, deep learning and ethical considerations in AI adoption. Special emphasis was also placed on AI’s role in education and healthcare showcasing its potential in personalized learning and medical diagnostics. 

The FDP featured comprehensive and insightful contributions from seasoned experts drawn from both academia and industry. They covered topics including AI-powered data analysis techniques, cyber security applications and innovations in robotics and automation. 

Participating faculty members engaged in hands-on sessions gaining exposure to AI tools and frameworks.  Notable speakers helming the FDP included Dr. Kamini, Software Development Program Instructor at SAIT, Canada and Mr. Gurpreet Singh, Senior QA Manager, QASource, Canada who provided insightful perspectives on AI’s evolving landscape and AI-driven innovations; Subject experts including Mr. Rohit Soni, Sales Head, CSB Solutions; Mr. Navneet Singh, Marketing Head, Techlive Solutions; Ms. Neeru Juneja, Software Engineer, JP Morgan Chase & Co.; Dr. Gurpreet Kaur, Associate Professor, SGGC College and Dr. Sandeep Kaushal, Managing Partner, Secure Hack, conducted immersive sessions on practical applications of AI in different sectors. 

Their collective expertise enriched the participants’ understanding of AI fundamentals, advancements and best practices. The FDP helped empower faculty members from CGC Landran by familiarizing them with AI-based teaching and research methodologies, encouraging interdisciplinary collaborations in AI-driven research and providing them hand-on exposure to AI tolls for practical implementation.
