The Punjab State Food Commission is working tirelessly to provide quality food to the people of the state. Chairman Bal Mukund Sharma emphasized the importance of implementing the Food Security Act correctly to ensure healthy food for future generations.

He stressed that 90% of diseases are caused by consuming low-quality food, and therefore, it is crucial to provide nutritious food to children. While reviewing the implementation of National Food Security Act, 2013 in the district, Chairman Bal Mukand Sharma instructed officials to ensure clean drinking water is available in all schools and anganwadis.

He directed the officials to use Zila Parishad tied funds if necessary to provide clean drinking water. He also emphasized the importance of nutritious food for pregnant and breastfeeding women, stating that it is essential to prevent anemia in these women.

The Chairman praised the Poshan Vatika (nutritious gardens) being developed in Moga district, where schools are cultivating fruits and vegetables to provide nutritious food to children. He announced plans to implement this project statewide, ensuring that all schools have nutritious gardens.

Sharma also instructed officials to display the commission's toll-free number  9876764545  in all schools and anganwadis to allow people to report complaints about food quality.
