The Bharatiya Janata Party is jubilant after its candidate, Harpreet Kaur Babla, emerged victorious in the mayor election of the Municipal Corporation held today. The party councillors, leaders and supporters led by President Jatinder Pal Malhotra held a grand celebration at the Sector 33 BJP office Kamalam here this evening.

The party's supporters took to the streets to celebrate the victory, with traditional festivities including the beats of the dhol, distribution of sweets, and bursting of crackers. Babla's win is seen as a significant victory for the BJP, which defeated INDI block comprising the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress in the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation mayor election just before Delhi assembly elections.

The BJP's win is also going to have significant implications for the city's governance and development. BJP leaders said the party president worked day in and day out for silently stitching the victory of the Mayor candidate. For last few days, he has been busy with back to back meetings  deliberations and planning for this election.

On this occasion, party president Jatinder Pal Malhotra said, "It is victory of development. All those councillors who voted today, they know only the BJP can bring development in the city. You have seen mismanagement and anarchy in the last one year of Mayor tenure of the AAP, which had the supprt of the Congress.

Under the leadership of our beloved Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the development will go to the next level. It will not standstill now." New Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla, said, "It is a collective win of the party. The councillors voted for me as they know no development happened in the last one year of the INDI block's rule.

We will ensure the development happens on a fast pace."
