Transport Commissioner J&K Vishesh Paul Mahajan today flagged off a road safety rally at Ranbir Higher Secondary School, Jammu as part of the ongoing Road Safety Month. The event was organized in collaboration with the School Education Department and Traffic Department to raise awareness about road safety measures among students and the general public.

The rally was attended by SSP Traffic Faisal Qureshi; RTO Jammu Pankaj Bhagotra; Joint Transport Commissioner Vinay Samotra; Chief Education Officer Jagdeep Padha; Principal, Kishore Sharma; ARTO HQ. Jammu Rehana Tabassum, officials of RTO Office Jammu and students of the school.

While interacting with the students, the Transport Commissioner, J&K emphasized the importance of adhering to road safety norms. He highlighted the necessity of wearing seat belts and helmets to prevent injuries in accidents. 

Vishesh Paul Mahajan also cautioned students againt under age driving, warning that such actions could lead to legal consequences for their parents and bring them disrepute. He further directed school principals not to allow two-wheelers within school premises, stating that it could endanger the lives of students.

Other officials present also addressed the gathering, underlining the significance of road safety awareness and encouraging responsible behavior on the roads. The event concluded with a pledge by the participants to follow road safety rules and spread the message to others, marking a successful step towards fostering a culture of safety and responsibility among the youth.

Earlier a road safety pledge was also administered at the event. Later, two minute silence prayers were also observed in remembrance of those who lost their lives in road accidents.
