Every Day, there is a devastating news in the media either electronic or print, that somewhere in our country some lizard, cockroach, worms are found in the Mid Day Meals served to the students of the economical poor strata and numerous incidents have happened where scores of the poor children either have lost their lives or hospitalized due to food poisoning due to inferior and poisonous food served to these poor children – the future of the country.Dr. A.P. Sanwaria Spokesman BJP Chandigarh aggrieved on the dismal fate of this highly ambitious scheme of Central Government of India, said that almost all the Government welfare schemes targeting the development of the poorest of poor have met the miserable results as in case of Mid Day Meal scheme and is continuously destroying the valuable lives of the poor children. He further said that the Chandigarh is also awaiting for any undue happing like that of Bihar & Maharashtra etc and more tragic aspect of the tragedy is that Chandigarh is run by Central Government itself through its Home Minister. But Home Minister keeping himself busy controlling the number games in parliament, has lost control on his administration.
Dr. A.P. Sanwaria further rued that recently all the UTs are put under the supervision of the Local Member Parliament to oversee the administration. But unfortunately Member Parliament of Chandigarh instead of looking over the functioning of the administration is busy in saving himself and his family members from various corruption cases and hence administration is let loose to do what it likes.Dr. A.P. Sanwaria further suggested that any food chain requires three stages - procurement, preparation and distribution and all these stages require strict supervision and that can only be done if there is a political will. He further stated that the officials responsible for monitoring all these stages should be held responsible for any damage to the health of the children and incase of unfortunate fatal incident, those should be tried for unintentional homicide, not amounting to murder under IPC 304 and the local Member Parliament should take all the moral responsibilities of these shocking incidents.
