Dr. Sona Thind, Deputy Commissioner, Fatehgarh Sahib, along with Shinaaz Mittal, Deputy Registrar of Cooperative Societies, visited the agricultural society of village Hawara Kalan.to emphasize the critical importance of environmental preservation and effective paddy stubble management. 

During this visit, she also visited the fields and monitored the use of baler and rake. The functionality of the implements was demonstrated to the farmers, showcasing their effectiveness in post-harvest straw management.

The Hawara Kalan cooperative society had an Ex Situ implements setup (which include a baler and a rake) and a tractor under an 80 percent subsidy scheme provided by the Punjab Government for paddy stubble management.Dr. Thind engaged with local farmers, assuring them of the administration’s unwavering support in managing paddy straw this season. 

She underscored the detrimental impact of stubble burning not only on the environment but also on soil fertility, which ultimately jeopardizes sustainable agricultural practices. Shinaaz Mittal, D.R., elaborated on the repercussions of straw burning, noting that farmers and their families bear the brunt of its adverse effects. 

She urged farmers to view the use of these new implements as an investment in the future, promising cleaner air, water, and soil for generations to come. Farmers committed to refraining from stubble burning and embraced the opportunity to responsibly manage their post-harvest straw.

On this occasion, Dr. Dharminder Singh Chief Agriculture Officer, Fatehgarh Sahib, Harpreet Kaur Assistant Registrar, Khamano and officials from PPCB were also present.
