After garnering critical acclaim in the Hindi-speaking market, Assam, and several key centres across the North-East, Kooki is now set to make its digital debut on Amazon Prime. The film, which has been lauded for its powerful storytelling and social relevance, will now have the opportunity to reach a broader audience through the OTT platform.

At the core of Kooki is the powerful message that victims should not be forced into silence or treated as weak. Instead, the film shows Kooki confronting her trauma head-on, becoming a symbol of strength and resilience. As she battles the judicial system that fails her, Kooki’s journey becomes one of reclaiming power, inspiring viewers to rethink their perceptions of justice.

Directed by Pranab J. Deka, featuring a compelling narrative centred around the theme of child abuse, Kooki has resonated deeply with viewers and critics alike. The film's sensitive portrayal of an alarming issue, coupled with its strong performances and direction, earned it widespread praise during its theatrical run.

Dr. Junmoni Devi Khaund, a renowned social activist and producer of the film, emphasized the importance of Kooki's message in today's society. She said, "Child abuse is reaching alarming levels in our country, and films like Kooki play a crucial role in raising awareness about this issue.

Kooki is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the quest for justice in the face of adversity.  Now that the film is available on Amazon Prime, it has the potential to reach a much wider audience and spark important conversations around this sensitive subject."

The stellar cast includes Ritisha Khaund in the titular role, with Rajesh Tailang, Rina Rani, Dipannita Sharma, Deboleena Bhattacharjee, Bodhisatva Sharma and Ritu Shivpuri delivering compelling performances. Directed by Pranab J Deka, the film features cinematography by Gyan Gautam and music by Pallab Talukdar, Sourav Mahanta, and Tapan Jyoti Dutta. Performance of the debut actress Ritisha Khaund in this challenging character is also appropriated by the film critics.

One of the film’s most memorable scenes is Kooki’s emotional testimony to the police and in court, where she must relive her trauma to fight for justice. The courtroom drama, paired with Kooki’s stirring words in a video shared on social media, drives home the film’s core message: Why is rape not seen as the most heinous crime, when the emotional and psychological damage it inflicts on survivors lasts a lifetime?

The film's transition to OTT has been highly anticipated, especially after its success in regional markets. Kooki has been appreciated by both the media and critics for its bold take on a difficult topic and its ability to spark much-needed dialogue. With its release on Amazon Prime, Kooki is poised to make an even greater impact, offering a platform for important conversations around child abuse, justice, and societal change.

The film’s critical success marks it as a significant addition to the discourse on gender-based violence, ensuring that Kooki’s story will not only be heard but remembered. Now streaming on Amazon Prime, Kooki continues to evoke powerful emotions, compelling audiences to reflect on the urgent need for justice reform and the protection of the vulnerable.
