Former Chairman of Improvement Trust Dinesh Bassi today remembered the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his 155th birth anniversary and Lal Bahadur Shastri Ji on his birth anniversary. He paid tribute to both the great personalities. In a function organized under the leadership of former Councillor of Verka Block Navdeep Singh Hundal, Dinesh Bassi said that for the kind of situation prevailing in Punjab today, it is very important to read the lesson of non-violence of Mahatma Gandhi.
How Mahatma Gandhi fought the freedom struggle by keeping non-violence as the main focus. He said that to improve the deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab today, there is a need to learn from the lives of these great leaders. People will have to give up violence, only then the country and the state will progress. Dinesh Bassi said that Punjab does not need a government of novices but a government of mature leaders who will take the state on the path of progress and not ruin the prosperous Punjab.
Dinesh Bassi said that Mahatma Gandhi, Lal Bahadur Shastri were such leaders who sacrificed their lives for the country and got freedom so that today's generation can breathe freely but today's governments are doing such work that people are again walking on the path of slavery and are leaving their country and settling abroad.
He also appealed to the youth to learn from their history and progress themselves and the state by staying in the country. Area residents were also present on this occasion.
