In the state-wide drive against gangsters and criminals launched as per directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann & DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav, Dist SAS Nagar Police achieved a major breakthrough when Derra Bassi police team arrested two operatives of Lawrance Bishnoi - Goldy Brar gang, said Sh. Deepak Parik, IPS, SSP SAS Nagar.

Those arrested have been identified as Nitish Kumar @ Nikku Rana r/o Lalru and Gurqirat Singh Bedi r/o Derra Bassi. Police team have also recovered two pistols (one .32 calibre & one 315 calibre) along with 9 live cartridges from their possession, besides impounding a Mahindra Bolero.

Briefing the media, SSP Deepak Parik said that those arrested were  involved in the firing incident at an immigration office at Derra Bassi on 19.09.2024 and development comes after police had arrested three accused within 24 hours of the crime. Further investigation based on accused's disclosures and Human intelligence/Technical evidence had pointed that weapons and other logistics used in the crime were provided by Nikku Rana, a gangster on bail who was assosiated with this gang.

Divulging the details the SSP said that accused Nikku Rana was intouch with his foreign based handlers Goldy Brar and Saba USA and he, along with another of his associate Manjeet alias Guri planned the whole firing incident through their associates who were already arrested by Mohali police. Later Nikku and Gurqirat collected the weapons from Delhi that were provided by Manjeet alias Guri and  gangster Sachin Banja, both lodged in Tihar Jail, presently.

The SSP further added, Nikku Rana, an active member of Lawrance Bishnoi - Goldy Brar gang has his involvement in several crimes in the past. In February 2023, he was arrested for hatching a plan to eliminate a rival associated with Davinder Bambiha gang on the directions of foreign based handler Goldy Brar.

Later in November 2023, he again was involved in providing logistics and armed support to Manjeet alias Guri for a failed attempt to assassinate a Zirakpur based businessman by the Goldy Brar gang. Notably, Police had thwarted this plan by arresting Manjeet alias Guri in a brief action on VIP road, Zirakpur. The preliminary investigation of the accused revealed that Gurqirat Singh was prepared as a backup shooter for the firing at immigration office, added SSP.

The accused are arrested in FIR No 292, u/s 111, 109, 308(5), 333, 351(2), 351(3), 3(5), 332-b, 61(2) BNS and 25/27-54-59 Arms Act, dated 19.09.2024 with regard to the firing incident registered at Police Station Derra Bassi.
