The Dadasaheb Phalke Award was announced by Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who recognized Chakraborty's impressive cinematic journey. The honor, to be presented at the 70th National Film Awards on October 8, 2024, is a result of Mithun's years of hard work and dedication in the field of acting. Mithun’s Journey from Humble Beginnings

Born as Gaurang Chakraborty in Kolkata, Mithun's journey to stardom is nothing short of an inspiration. Mithun hails from an ordinary Bengali family. Mithun once said, "I never thought that a boy living on the footpath could achieve such a great honour." His illustrious career is a testament to his love for acting and courage, which today inspires countless people to overcome their circumstances.

Mithun's Career or Challenges

Mithun Chakraborty made his cinema debut in 1976 with Mrinal Sen's Mrigayaa. His outstanding career earned him his first National Film Award for Best Actor. Over the years, he showcased his acting skills through many movie roles, earning two additional National Awards for Tahadar Katha 1992 and Swami Vivekananda (1998). His career-defining role in the 1982 blockbuster Disco Dancer ushered in a new era of disco dancing in India, with hits like "I am a Disco Dancer."

His vast filmography includes memorable films like Ghar Ek Mandir, Mujhe Insaaf Chahiye, and Kasam Paida Karne Wale Ki. These movies established Mithun as one of the finest actors in both Hindi and Bengali cinema.
