Savitri Thakur, Hon’ble Minister of State for Ministry of Women & Child Development, GOI visited the Observation Home, Special Home and Place of Safety for Boys in Sector-25, Chandigarh. During the visit, officers of Department of Social Welfare including Ms. Anuradha Chagti, Secretary Social Welfare, Dr. Palika Arora, Director Social Welfare, Company Secretary, Ms. Rajni Gupta, CCWDC, Ms. Bisman Ahuja, Program Manager, UTCPS and Ms. Sarita Godwani, POSHAN Abhiyaan were also present.
The Hon’ble Minister, visited the stalls of Millet of Poshak recipes prepared by the Anganwadi Workers to mark ‘POSHAN Maah’ which is being celebrated from 1st to 30th September 2024 and ‘Hunar ki Udaan’ wherein articles prepared by children of Observation Home, Sector-25, Chandigarh were displayed.
It was apprised to the Minister that under project Hunar ki Udaan, the articles prepared by children are set up for exhibition-cum-sale at various places across Chandigarh and profit earned from the sale is deposited in the saving accounts of children.A cultural program was also organized during the visit wherein Ganesh Vandana and Qawali was sung by children.
The Hon’ble Minister addressed the children and motivated them to become good citizens and to set an example for the society in future. She praised the Department for taking up the initiative of Hunar ki Udaan in order to boost the self confidence of children.
