The Administrator’s Advisory Council (AAC) Meeting, led by Sh. Gulab Chand Kataria, Governor of Punjab and Administrator of UT Chandigarh, was held here today at Hotel Mountview, Chandigarh. This meeting was a significant step towards advancing community welfare and progress in the city. 

The session began with Sh. Rajeev Verma, Adviser to the Administrator UT, welcoming Sh.Gulab Chand Kataria, Administrator UT Chandigarh and the Administrator's Advisory Council members. He acknowledged the valuable contributions of the Sub-Committees and members, highlighting the city’s goals of becoming a Green, Clean, and Smart City. 

The Chairpersons of the 10 Standing Committees—covering Education, Health, Urban Infrastructure, Social Welfare, Law and Order, Sports, Transportation, Culture, Environment, and Peripheral Area Development—reviewed their past achievements and presented new recommendations. Members of the council also provided their insights and suggestions on various issues. 

Sh. Gulab Chand Kataria expressed gratitude to the Administrator's Advisory Council members for their participation and constructive discussions. He emphasized that public involvement is crucial for the successful implementation of government plans and urged for a balanced approach to address both current needs and future aspirations of Chandigarh. 

The Administrator disclosed that efforts are underway to establish a shorter route to the international airport, with support from the government of Punjab and Haryana. He also stressed the need to improve Chandigarh’s cleanliness ranking and suggested learning from successful cities like Indore to address the current shortfalls. 

Furthermore, Sh. Kataria spoke about introduction of a new initiative where Wednesdays will be dedicated to addressing public grievances in government offices, fostering direct engagement between the administration and the residents. The Administrator reiterated the importance of the Administrator Advisory Council members recommendations for Chandigarh’s future and proposed a follow-up meeting with the Chairpersons of the Sub-Committees and other key dignitaries to resolve long-standing issues and guide policy decisions. 

Following the discussions, Chandigarh Administration officials updated the Council on recent developments, challenges, and the way forward. The officials committed to a legal review of the some issues raised during the meeting to facilitate their resolution. 

The meeting was attended by distinguished guests including Sh. Manish Tewari, Member of Parliament Chandigarh; Sh. Satya Pal Jain; Smt. Kirron Kher, Ex-Member of Parliament; Sh. K. Siva Prasad, Additional Chief Secretary to the Governor of Punjab; Sh. Mandeep Singh Brar, Home Secretary; Sh. Surendra Singh Yadav, DGP; Sh. Ajay Chagti, Secretary Health; Sh. Vinay Partap Singh, Deputy Commissioner; Sh. Abhijit Vijay Chaudhari, Secretary Education; Sh. Hari Kallikkat, Secretary Culture; Sh. T.C. Nautiyal, CCF; Advisory Council members; and other officials of the Chandigarh Administration.
