As Punjab BJP Leader Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal raised his voice and requested External Affairs Ministry for swift release of Sikh Scriptures from Qatar Custody and immediate action of the external affairs ministry, now Qatar authorities on Wednesday have  handed over to Indian Embassy in Doha Sri Guru Granth Sahib (two Saroops) taken from an Indian national in a case related to running a religious establishment without approvals.

Grewal who received a letter from the union ministry for external affairs said here today that Union Government have expressed and conveyed thanks to the Government of Qatar for the same.Grewal said that Indian Embassy have  also appealed to all Indian citizens residing in Qatar  to scrupulously follow local laws and regulations in all matters.

It may be mentioned here that Grewal has written a detailed letter on August 24 to external affairs minister Dr S. Jaishankar to intervene in this sensitive matter and to secure release of two “Swaroops” of Holy Shri Granth Sahib lying in the custody Of Qatar authorities for the last eight months.
