Rajeev Verma, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, UT Chandigarh, inaugurated the 'Paudh Mela' at the Lake Sports Complex parking area today. The event, which aims to promote greenery and environmental sustainability, saw a large turnout of enthusiastic citizens.
The Adviser visited various stalls at the Mela, which featured free distribution stalls by the Department of Forest and Wildlife, Engineering Department, and the Municipal Corporation. Additionally, stalls from Self-Help Groups (SHGs), NGOs, schools, and colleges showcased a wide variety of products and information, including compost and composting techniques, herbal seeds, bamboo products, kitchen waste composting, organic farming and gardening, bioenzymes, and more.
In his address, Shri Verma emphasized the importance of the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign, urging everyone to plant at least one tree during the monsoon season. As part of the event, saplings were distributed to the public, encouraging community participation in environmental conservation.
The Chandigarh Renewable Energy and Science & Technology Promotion Society (CREST) showcased various information and documents related to the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijali Yozna at their stall, promoting the scheme and raising awareness about the government's initiative to provide free electricity through solar power.
During the event, prizes were distributed to students for their outstanding performance in events organized by the Forest Department on the occasion of World Biodiversity Day. The Paudh Mela will be held for two days, from 6th July to 7th July 2024, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Saplings will be distributed free of cost by the Forest Department, Engineering Department (Horticulture), and the Municipal Corporation (Horticulture). In addition to the mela, saplings will also be distributed through vehicles in different sectors of the city.
The function was attended by Shri Rupesh Kumar, IAS , Shri Navneet Kumar Srivastava, IFS, Shri C.B. Ojha, Chief Engineer, UT Chandigarh, along with other officers of the Chandigarh Administration Governor of Punjab and Administrator UT Chandigarh Sh. Banwarilal Purohit also planted a sapling of “Rudraksha” at Punjab Raj Bhavan in memory of his mother under the 'एक पेड़ माँ के नाम' campaign.

प्रशासक के सलाहकार श्री राजीव वर्मा,ने पौध मेले का किया उद्घाटन। चंडीगढ़, 6 जुलाई 2024: यूटी चंडीगढ़ के प्रशासक के सलाहकार श्री राजीव वर्मा, ने आज लेक स्पोर्ट्स कॉम्प्लेक्स पार्किंग क्षेत्र में 'पौध मेले' का उद्घाटन किया। हरियाली और पर्यावरणीय स्थिरता को बढ़ावा देने के उद्देश्य से आयोजित इस कार्यक्रम में बड़ी संख्या में उत्साही नागरिक शामिल हुए।
सलाहकार ने मेले में विभिन्न स्टॉलों का दौरा किया, जिसमें वन और वन्यजीव विभाग, इंजीनियरिंग विभाग और नगर निगम द्वारा निःशुल्क वितरण स्टॉल शामिल थे। इसके अतिरिक्त, स्वयं सहायता समूहों (एसएचजी), गैर सरकारी संगठनों, स्कूलों और कॉलेजों के स्टॉलों ने विभिन्न प्रकार के उत्पादों और सूचनाओं का प्रदर्शन किया, जिसमें खाद और खाद बनाने की तकनीक, हर्बल बीज, बांस के उत्पाद, रसोई के कचरे से खाद बनाना, जैविक खेती और बागवानी, बायोएंजाइम और बहुत कुछ शामिल है।
अपने संबोधन में श्री वर्मा ने 'एक पेड़ मां के नाम' अभियान के महत्व पर जोर देते हुए सभी से मानसून के मौसम में कम से कम एक पेड़ लगाने का आग्रह किया। कार्यक्रम के तहत पर्यावरण संरक्षण में सामुदायिक भागीदारी को प्रोत्साहित करते हुए लोगों को पौधे वितरित किए गए।
चंडीगढ़ अक्षय ऊर्जा और विज्ञान एवं प्रौद्योगिकी संवर्धन सोसायटी (क्रेस्ट) ने अपने स्टॉल पर प्रधानमंत्री सूर्य घर मुफ्त बिजली योजना से संबंधित विभिन्न जानकारी और दस्तावेज प्रदर्शित किए, जिससे योजना का प्रचार-प्रसार हुआ और सौर ऊर्जा के माध्यम से मुफ्त बिजली प्रदान करने की सरकार की पहल के बारे में जागरूकता बढ़ी।
कार्यक्रम के दौरान विश्व जैव विविधता दिवस के अवसर पर वन विभाग द्वारा आयोजित कार्यक्रमों में उत्कृष्ट प्रदर्शन करने वाले छात्रों को पुरस्कार वितरित किए गए। पौधा मेला 6 जुलाई से 7 जुलाई 2024 तक दो दिनों तक सुबह 9:00 बजे से शाम 6:00 बजे तक आयोजित किया जाएगा। वन विभाग, इंजीनियरिंग विभाग (बागवानी) और नगर निगम (बागवानी) द्वारा पौधे निःशुल्क वितरित किए जाएंगे।
मेले के अलावा, शहर के विभिन्न सेक्टरों में वाहनों के माध्यम से पौधे भी वितरित किए जाएंगे। इस समारोह में श्री रूपेश कुमार, आईएएस, श्री नवनीत कुमार श्रीवास्तव, आईएफएस, श्री सी.बी. ओझा, मुख्य अभियंता, यूटी चंडीगढ़, के साथ-साथ चंडीगढ़ प्रशासन के अन्य अधिकारी भी शामिल हुए। पंजाब के राज्यपाल और यूटी चंडीगढ़ के प्रशासक श्री बनवारीलाल पुरोहित ने भी ‘एक पेड़ माँ के नाम’ अभियान के तहत अपनी माँ की याद में पंजाब राजभवन में “रुद्राक्ष” का पौधा लगाया।
