Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying and Minister of State for Minority Affairs, Govt. of India, Shri George Kurian visited CIFNET, Kochi today and reviewed various activities of the Institute.
MoS also visited various divisions of CIFNET such as Fishing Gear Hall, RT Station, computer lab, Navigation Simulator Lab, Library, Seamanship Navigation Lab, Biology Lab, and Marine Engineering Lab.
After brief overview of CIFNET activities by M.Habibullah, Director CIFNET, a demonstration of various equipment, such as RT communication with CIFNET Fishing Vessels was conducted during visit of the Minister.
The Minister was also briefed about various initiatives of the Government of India for the safety and security of fishermen, including transponders for two-way communication developed indigenously by ISRO.

भारत सरकार के मत्स्यपालन, पशुपालन एवं डेयरी राज्य मंत्री तथा अल्पसंख्यक कार्य राज्य मंत्री श्री जॉर्ज कुरियन ने आज कोच्चि में सिफनेट का दौरा किया तथा संस्थान की विभिन्न गतिविधियों की समीक्षा की। राज्य मंत्री ने सिफनेट के विभिन्न प्रभागों जैसे कि फिशिंग गियर हॉल, आर.टी. स्टेशन, कंप्यूटर लैब, नेविगेशन सिम्युलेटर लैब, लाइब्रेरी, सीमैनशिप नेविगेशन लैब, बायोलॉजी लैब और मरीन इंजीनियरिंग लैब का भी दौरा किया।
सिफनेट के निदेशक एम. हबीबुल्लाह द्वारा सिफनेट की गतिविधियों के संक्षिप्त ब्यौरे के बाद, मंत्री के दौरे के दौरान सिफनेट के मछली पकड़ने वाले जहाजों के साथ आर.टी. संचार जैसे विभिन्न उपकरणों का प्रदर्शन किया गया। मंत्री को मछुआरों की सुरक्षा के लिए भारत सरकार के विभिन्न पहलों के बारे में भी जानकारी दी गई, जिसमें इसरो द्वारा स्वदेशी रूप से विकसित दो-तरफ़ा संचार के लिए ट्रांसपोंडर शामिल हैं।
