In order to instil a sense of security among voters ahead of the voting day on June 1, District Election Officer Mrs Aashika Jain along with DIG Rupnagar Range Nilambri Jagdale and SSP Dr Sandip Garg on Friday led a flag march of the Punjab Police and Para-Military force in various areas of the city.
The flag march started from the Market of Phase 7, Mohali. DC Jain said that round-the-clock surveillance to be continued till the completion of polling to keep the bad elements away from the voters to keep the polling process free, fair, and transparent.
She said that the district administration was duty-bound to maintain peace and law and order in the city. Flag marches are also confidence-building measures. She added that no anti-social element would be allowed to disturb the peace.
She called upon the people to exercise their vote without any fear and everyone should vote on June 1. She said that entry points of the district had been completely sealed and had been divided into sectors for security purposes.
DIG Nilambri Jagdale said that patrolling parties of Para-Military and Punjab Police personnel had been deployed to patrol the area besides carrying out regular flag marches and foot marching by the security forces, especially in the vulnerable areas as part of confidence-building measures.
Reiterating commitment to holding free, fair and transparent elections, she said that the district police is working in coordination with the Flying Squad Teams (FSTs), Static Surveillance Teams (SSTs) and integrated Nakas by excise and para-military forces have been established to keep a strict vigil across the district.
SSP Dr Sandip Garg added that the round-the-clock patrolling is on by pushing in 170 patrolling teams besides the installation of 60 Inter-district and Inter-state Nakas and regular checking is being done to thwart any untoward incident.

1 ਜੂਨ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਣ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਮਤਦਾਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਦਿਨ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਵੋਟਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਦੀ ਭਾਵਨਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਚੋਣ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਸ਼੍ਰੀਮਤੀ ਆਸ਼ਿਕਾ ਜੈਨ ਨੇ ਡੀਆਈਜੀ ਰੂਪਨਗਰ ਰੇਂਜ ਨੀਲਾਂਬਰੀ ਜਗਦਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਐਸ ਐਸ ਪੀ ਡਾ. ਸੰਦੀਪ ਗਰਗ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸ਼ੁੱਕਰਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਅਤੇ ਅਰਧ-ਸੈਨਿਕ ਬਲਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਖੇਤਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਫਲੈਗ ਮਾਰਚ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ। ਫਲੈਗ ਮਾਰਚ ਮੁਹਾਲੀ ਦੇ ਫੇਜ਼ 7 ਦੀ ਮਾਰਕੀਟ ਤੋਂ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੋਇਆ।
ਡੀ ਸੀ ਜੈਨ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਚੋਣ ਪ੍ਰਕਿਰਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਆਜ਼ਾਦ, ਨਿਰਪੱਖ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਰਦਰਸ਼ੀ ਰੱਖਣ ਲਈ ਮਾੜੇ ਅਨਸਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੋਟਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਰੱਖਣ ਲਈ ਮਤਦਾਨ ਮੁਕੰਮਲ ਹੋਣ ਤੱਕ ਚੌਵੀ ਘੰਟੇ ਨਿਗਰਾਨੀ ਰੱਖੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਮਨ ਤੇ ਕਾਨੂੰਨ ਦੀ ਸਥਿਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਬਰਕਰਾਰ ਰੱਖਣ ਲਈ ਵਚਨਬੱਧ ਹੈ। ਫਲੈਗ ਮਾਰਚ ਵੀ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਉਪਾਅ ਹਨ।
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਸਮਾਜ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਅਨਸਰ ਨੂੰ ਅਮਨ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਭੰਗ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਇਜਾਜ਼ਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਪੀਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਡਰ ਭੈਅ ਤੋਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਵੋਟ ਦਾ ਇਸਤੇਮਾਲ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਨੂੰ 1 ਜੂਨ ਨੂੰ ਵੋਟ ਪਾਉਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਐਂਟਰੀ ਪੁਆਇੰਟਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੀਲ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਦੇ ਮੱਦੇਨਜ਼ਰ ਸੈਕਟਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੰਡਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਡੀ ਆਈ ਜੀ ਨੀਲਾਂਬਰੀ ਜਗਦਲੇ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਪੈਰਾ-ਮਿਲਟਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਦੇ ਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਗਸ਼ਤ ਪਾਰਟੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਸ਼ਤ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ-ਨਾਲ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਬਲਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਖਾਸ ਤੌਰ ’ਤੇ ਸੰਵੇਦਨਸ਼ੀਲ ਖੇਤਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਫਲੈਗ ਮਾਰਚ ਅਤੇ ਪੈਦਲ ਮਾਰਚ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਤਾਇਨਾਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਆਜ਼ਾਦ, ਨਿਰਪੱਖ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਰਦਰਸ਼ੀ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਵਚਨਬੱਧਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਹਰਾਉਂਦਿਆਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਫਲਾਇੰਗ ਸਕੁਐਡ ਟੀਮਾਂ (ਐਫਐਸਟੀ), ਸਟੈਟਿਕ ਸਰਵੀਲੈਂਸ ਟੀਮਾਂ (ਐਸਐਸਟੀ) ਨਾਲ ਤਾਲਮੇਲ ਕਰਕੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਬਕਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਅਰਧ ਸੈਨਿਕ ਬਲਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਏਕੀਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਕਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਥਾਪਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਭਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਚੌਕਸੀ ਰੱਖੀ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ।
ਐਸ.ਐਸ.ਪੀ ਡਾ. ਸੰਦੀਪ ਗਰਗ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ 170 ਗਸ਼ਤ ਟੀਮਾਂ ਲਗਾ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ 60 ਅੰਤਰ-ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਤਰ-ਰਾਜੀ ਨਾਕੇ ਲਗਾ ਕੇ ਚੌਵੀ ਘੰਟੇ ਗਸ਼ਤ ਜਾਰੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਅਣਸੁਖਾਵੀਂ ਘਟਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕਣ ਲਈ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਚੈਕਿੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
