Smriti Irani, Minister of Women and Child Development of India today urged the people of Chandigarh to become protectors of democracy like Bhagwan Hanuman ji and set the Congress 'Lanka' ablaze, while addressing the 'Mahila Shakti Samman' rally at Dussehra Ground, Ramdarbar, Chandigarh on Tuesday.

Irani came to the city to campaign for Sanjay Tandon, the BJP candidate for the LS seat in Chandigarh. In a scathing attack on the Congress, the BJP leader stated that there is no confusion within the Congress when it comes to looting the country's exchequer.

There's no ambiguity within their ranks regarding undermining India's integrity and values, nor when they choose to decline invitations such as the Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha. However, when it comes to prioritizing the welfare of the people, confusion suddenly reigns supreme within the Congress ranks.

Highlighting PM Modi's decisive action during COVID-19, Smriti Irani said, "It was Narendra Modi who provided the COVID vaccine to every citizen free of cost, saving millions of lives. But these Congressmen are so shameless that they all got themselves vaccinated and continued to disparage PM Modi."

Continuing her tirade against the Congress , Smriti Irani highlighted the controversial proposals of wealth tax and inheritance tax proposed by the Congress. She pointed out the absurdity of their approach, noting that the Congress seems determined to tax not only 'the living' but also those who are no longer in this world.

With a touch of sarcasm, she also remarked on the tendency of certain Congress leaders to conveniently seek medical treatment abroad at the slightest inconvenience, illustrating their detachment from the realities faced by ordinary citizens. Irani subtly poked fun at Rahul Gandhi, suggesting that some may even plan leisure trips to Thailand post-elections, as he will loose the election and have all the time in the world.

Addressing the gathering, Tandon said, “It's the magic of PM Modi's leadership that has virtually eradicated 'corruption' therefore it is no longer an issue in this Lok Sabha election, leaving the opposition helpless without a substantive issue .

With his solemn oath of 'Na Khaunga, Na Khane Dunga' (I will neither indulge in corruption, nor allow others to do so), Modi ji has turned rhetoric into reality.”“I urge all of you to fortify Modi ji's hands and empower him as the captain who will navigate the nation towards a promising horizon of growth and prosperity," exhorted Tandon.

Smriti Irani enumerated various achievements of the Modi government in the last 10 years and also underscored various welfare initiatives taken up for women.Highlighting PM Modi’s transformative initiatives, Irani said, “With 11 crore toilets provided, countless mothers and sisters now live with dignity.

Under Modi's leadership, 23 crore women have gained access to bank accounts, totaling 40 crore accounts with zero balance initially. The government has disbursed 38 lakh crore rupees through these accounts.” In a jibe at the Congress, Irani sarcastically remarked that in the past, such funds might have ended up in the personal coffers of their leaders.

She also underlined the 'Matra Vandana Yojna', which provides rupees 6000 to pregnant women, noting that over 33,812 women in Chandigarh alone have availed themselves of this support. She also praised initiatives like Ayushman Bharat Yojna and Mudra Yojna.

BJP’s Jitender Pal Malhotra, Ramvir Bhatti, Ex MLA Kalka Latika Sharma, Banto Kataria, Deepti, Heera Negi, Poonam Sharma, Priya Tandon, Bimla Dubey, Sarabjit Kaur, Amit Jindal, Harpreet Babla, Vimla Dhawan, Gurpreet Dhillon, Mangal Mukhi along with members of Mahila Morcha were present at the event.
