Chandigarh , 28 May 2024

In a significant boost to the BJP, several Congress Muslim leaders from Dhanas along with hundreds of party activists joined the BJP at an event held at Kamlam Sector 33, Chandigarh here on Tuesday.

The joining took place under the leadership of Congress District Urban 2 General Secretary Dr. Nafees Tyagi in the presence of BJP District President Kuldeep Kumar, Minority Morcha State President Javed Ansari at Sector-33 party office Kamalam.

On this occasion,  Kuldeep Kumar said that Congress is doing appeasement politics, whereas BJP has PM Modi’s vision which is based on inclusive development - ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’.

He said the members of the Muslim community have joined the BJP as they were enthused by the Modi led government’s programmes to foster welfare of Muslims and to empower them.  The Modi government has provided Muslims access to education, skill development, and employment opportunities etc.

Taking a jibe at Congress nominee Manish Tewari, Javed Ansari BJP Minority Morcha President said that Tewari has come to Chandigarh only as a political tourist and has nothing to do with the development of Chandigarh. Tewari is ‘Halka Hopper’ who hops from one constituency to another but this time the people of Chandigarh will give him a befitting reply on June  1.

Aapki Awaaz Party President Prempal Chauhan who recently joined BJP coordinated the inclusion of Dr. Nafees Tyagi, Dr. Nazim Qamar Alam, Samsad Bhura, Mohammad Islam from the Muslim community along with hundreds of Congress activists into the BJP.

The collective decision of the Muslim leaders to join the BJP would bolster BJP candidate for Chandigarh Lok Sabha seat Sanjay Tandon's position significantly in the election. There is overwhelming support for Tandon among the city's residents, due to his deep-rooted connection to the city.
