As part of ongoing efforts to promote voter education and participation under SVEEP (Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation), the District Administration Bandipora today organised a unique initiative of pigeon releasing at Mini Secretariat Bandipora.

The Pigeon releasing event was attended by District Election Officer (DEO) Bandipora, Shakeel ul Rehman; Dy. District Election Officer, Mohammad Rafeeq Bhat; Chief Education Officer, Dr. G.M.Pujoo, BLOs and other concerned. The main attraction of the program was the participation of newly registered first-time voters who are going to cast their first vote in upcoming parliamentary Elections.

The DEO Bandipora, along with first-time voters, released the pigeons with messages "My Vote for My Country" attached to their necks. On the occasion, the DEO interacted with first-time voters and emphasized ensuring that youth are well-informed and empowered to exercise their franchise.

He stressed upon the SVEEP team to take more proactive steps in order to bridge the gaps and ensure that every eligible voter is informed and empowered to exercise his/her right to vote. Later, an awareness program under SVEEP was also held at conference Hall Mini Secretariat Bandipora, which was attended by first-time voters, BLOs, and other concerned.
