In a significant move aimed at bolstering the fight against Muscular Dystrophy, esteemed film director Vivek Agnihotri has been announced as the Brand Ambassador of the Integrated Muscular Dystrophy Rehabilitation Center (IMDRC) - Manav Mandir, located in the village of Kotho, district Solan. The announcement was made by Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla during a video conferencing session held at Raj Bhavan.
During the event, Governor Shukla, alongside patients suffering from muscular dystrophy, officially declared Agnihotri’s new role. The Governor highlighted the centre's advanced treatment methods, including physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, yoga, pranayam, and the use of modern machines.
He also mentioned the centre's recent acknowledgment by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his 'Mann Ki Baat' program, praising its commendable services.Governor Shukla expressed his belief that Agnihotri’s involvement would significantly enhance the center's visibility and encourage more people to contribute to this noble cause.He urged the public to support the humanitarian efforts of the IMDRC by offering their services.
Vivek Agnihotri, accepting the honor, expressed his gratitude and committed to actively promoting the center's mission. The event also saw contributions from various individuals associated with the IMDRC, including Uma Baldi and Vipul Goyal, a patient and advocate, who extended a vote of thanks to the participants.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of Lady Governor Janaki Shukla and Rajesh Sharma, Secretary to the Governor, underscoring the importance of community involvement in addressing muscular dystrophy.
The appointment of Agnihotri as Brand Ambassador is seen as a step forward in raising awareness and support for muscular dystrophy patients, aligning with the broader goal of serving humanity and improving the quality of life for those affected by the condition.

राज्यपाल शिव प्रताप शुक्ल ने आज यहां सोलन जिला के कोठू स्थित इंटीग्रेटिड मस्क्यूलर डिस्ट्रोफी री-हेबिलिटेशन सेन्टर मानव मन्दिर के ब्रांड एम्बेसेडर के रूप में विख्यात फिल्म निर्माता एवं निर्देशक विवेक अग्निहोत्री का नाम औपचारिक तौर पर घोषित किया। उन्होंने राजभवन से वीडियो कान्फ्रेंसिंग के माध्यम से इसके लिए विवेक अग्निहोत्री को बधाई भी दी। इस अवसर पर मस्क्यूलर डिस्ट्रोफी से पीड़ित रोगी भी राजभवन में उपस्थित रहे।
उन्होंने कहा कि मांसपेशियों से संबंधित इस रोग का उपचार संभव है और इस केंद्र में फिजियोथैरेपी, होइड्रोथैरेपी, योगा तथा प्राणायाम सहित आधुनिक मशीनों के माध्यम से उचित देखभाल की सुविधा उपलब्ध है। उन्होंने कहा कि प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी भी अपने मन की बात कार्यक्रम में इस केंद्र की सराहना कर चुके हैं।
राज्यपाल ने उम्मीद जताई कि इस केंद्र में उपलब्ध सेवाओं के प्रचार-प्रसार में विवेक अग्निहोत्री अपनी भूमिका बखूबी निभाएंगे और इन प्रयासों से अधिक से अधिक लोगों को इस केंद्र के सहयोग के लिए भी प्रेरित करेंगे।
उन्होंने लोगों का आह्वान किया कि वे इस केंद्र से जुड़कर मानव सेवा में अपना बहुमूल्य सहयोग दें।इस अवसर पर वर्चुअल माध्यम से जुड़े विवेक अग्निहोत्री ने प्रसन्नता व्यक्त करते हुए कहा कि कंद्र की गतिविधियों को बढ़ावा देने के साथ ही उन्हें समाज सेवा का अवसर प्राप्त हुआ है और वे इसमें सक्रिय रूप से सहयोग देते रहेंगे।मानव मन्दिर में सेवाएं प्रदान कर रही उमा बाल्दी ने राज्यपाल का स्वागत किया जबकि मस्क्यूलर डिस्ट्रोफी के रोगी विपुल गोयल ने धन्यवाद किया।इस अवसर पर लेडी गवर्नर जानकी शुक्ल और राज्यपाल के सचिव राजेश शर्मा भी उपस्थित थे।
