The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, Dr Basharat Qayoom Wednesday convened a pivotal meeting to advance the district's holistic agriculture development program (HADP), approving 170 crucial cases aimed at promoting sustainable agricultural practices and boosting the rural economy.

The meeting brought together key stakeholders including representatives from the agriculture department, local farmers, and experts in the field. It underscored the district's commitment to fostering agricultural innovation and empowering farmers with the resources necessary to thrive in the evolving landscape of modern agriculture.

During the meeting, the assembled panel comprehensively reviewed 170 cases encompassing an array of initiatives designed to harness the potential of agriculture as a driver of economic growth. These initiatives spanned diverse areas such as modern irrigation techniques, crop diversification, livestock management, and technology adoption, with a focus on empowering farmers to achieve sustainable and profitable agricultural practices.

Dr Basharat emphasized the significance of advancing a holistic approach to agriculture, emphasizing that the program's initiatives are tailored to address the multifaceted needs of the farming community. By championing sustainable agriculture, the district aims to enhance productivity, optimize resource utilization, and create avenues for farmers to maximize their yields and income, he added.

The approved cases reflect a strategic blend of short-term and long-term interventions, encompassing support for small and marginal farmers, promotion of organic farming, capacity building efforts, and access to agricultural credit and insurance. These measures signify the district's unwavering commitment to ensuring the prosperity of agricultural communities while fortifying the agricultural sector as a linchpin of the local economy.

The approval of 170 cases signifies a pivotal milestone in the district's ambitious journey to rejuvenate and revitalize its agrarian ecosystem. The DC underscored the district's commitment to continued engagement with stakeholders, proactive implementation of initiatives, and persistent monitoring and evaluation to ensure the effective realization of the program's objectives.
