The inaugural Ice Skating camp at Sonamarg, initiated on December 24, 2023, marked its successful conclusion today. Organized by the District Administration Ganderbal in collaboration with local stakeholders, the event witnessed the participation of approximately 20 local boys who received expert training from Mohd Ashraf Dijoo of the Ice Skating Association of Jammu and Kashmir.
The collaboration with local hoteliers played a pivotal role in facilitating the camp, with support from the Youth Services and Sports Department, Education, Tourism, and the Sonamarg Development Authority (SDA). At the closing ceremony, a prize distribution ceremony celebrated the achievements of the participants, who were honored with medals and certificates.
Notably, a contingent of national-level ice skaters joined to inspire and encourage the budding enthusiasts. The diverse audience, comprising stakeholders, tourists, and locals, expressed their appreciation for the event, advocating for its continuity as a regular feature in Sonamarg.
