Karanpur Assembly Seat Results: Congress Leader Rupinder Singh Koonar In Lead

On Monday, the vote-counting process for the assembly seat in Karanpur started at 8 AM. Following the passing of Congress candidate and subsequent MLA Gurmeet Singh Koonar, the election for the Assembly seat was postponed. Surendra Pal Singh of the BJP is running for the position. Rupinder Singh, Koonar's son, had been put forward by the Congress for the position.

The Congress Leader Received 14.946 Votes

After three rounds, Mr. Koonar has received 14,946 votes, while BJP candidate Surendra Pal Singh has received 14,316 votes, according to the Chief Electoral Office. At the Dr. Bheemrao Ambedkar Government College in Sriganganagar, the district from which the seat is drawn, counting is taking place on 17 counters.

Voting is Conducted Peacefully at Bheemrao Ambedkar Government College 

The polls were peacefully conducted, starting at 7 a.m. and ending at 6 p.m. According to the officials on Saturday, the vote counting would take place at Bhimrao Ambedkar Government College in Sriganganagar on January 8.On November 25, votes were cast for 199 of the state's 200 assembly seats. Gurmeet Singh Koonar, a sitting MLA and candidate for the Congress, passed away, forcing a postponement of the Karanpur poll. 

Rupinder Singh, Koonar's son, was the Congress candidate for the position. According to Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Gupta, the Karanpur constituency's final vote percentage was reported as 81.38 percent. Officials report that there are 2,40,826 voters in Karanpur, including 1,25,850 men, 1,14,966 women, and 10 transgender individuals.
