Bureau of Indian Standards (Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution , Govt of India) Chandigarh Branch Office (CHBO) today organised fourth Gram Panchayat level meeting  at  Block Gharshankar, under the  able guidance of  Smt. Komal Mittal, I.A.S. Deputy Commissioner Hoshiarpur and Shri Balraj Singh Addl. Deputy Commissioner (Dev) Hoshiarpur.

Sh. Jai Krishan Singh Rouri Deputy speaker Punjab Vidhan Sabha attended as Chief guest of the function. He emphasis the need of the hour for new Techniques to be adopted in day to day life. He urge the participants to use I.S.I mark and hallmark when ever  they do procurement for personal use as well as for procurement at village level. He also give best wishes to B.I.S offices for enhancing Knowledge about bls care app and for upcoming remaining workshops at District Hoshiarpur .

Wherein about 77 Sarpanches, Panchas and Panchayat Samiti Members participated. A booklet and fliers  about development of BIS standards  for villages and agriculture related information were distributed among participants to enhance their knowledge about Standards in their routine day to day life as well as in farm sector.

During the program  the participants were apprised about significance of Standards to procure quality goods for any development activity , personal needs or at the time of making irrigation sources to farms. Participants also downloaded BIS Care app and learn to use this App for verifying the authenticity of genuine ISI Mark and Hallmarking and tried various products to validate their authenticity. 

A good number of women Panchayat members enthusiastically participated in the discussion on Hallmarking and BIS Care App. Participants also chant the slogan  'JAGO GARAHAK JAGO' with great zeal. The participants also shared their views after the workshop about their experience and how they can effectively use the information they have gained through this meeting. 

Participants were amazed by knowing that they can directly raise a complaint or concern at BIS Care App and check misuse of standard mark. The entire audience unanimously thanks for enlightening them on the newer knowledge they have gained on the BIS marking and means to check their authenticity and raised demand to conduct more such programs in their respective villages. 

Smt. Manjinder Kaur  BDPO Gharshankar also share  her views on importance of ISI verified products and ask Participant to verify the product through BIS Care app before buying products for personal use or for procurement for village through ISI , HUID  Hallmark  for Gold ornaments and Registration Mark for Electric and Electronics products.

Sh Jeevan (Superintendent, BDPO office) and his entire team provide necessary  arrangements to organise this successful workshop , A High Tea with Refreshment also served to Panchs and Sarpanchs . This workshop is assisted by Zoya Siddiqui (District Development Fellow) Hoshiarpur. Smt Manjinder Kaur BDPO thanks to entire BIS team consisting of  Dalbir Singh ( Consultant, B.I.S.) Sh. Foran Chand (Resource Person)  and Sh. Yograj Singh  from BIS for the awareness Program.
