The Supreme Court affirmed the Center's decision to repeal Article 370, which gave Jammu and Kashmir unique status. On Monday, the Supreme Court affirmed the Center's decision to revoke Article 370, which gave the former state of Jammu and Kashmir unique status.

Writing the decision on behalf of Justices Gavai and Surya Kant, Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud stated that Article 370 of the Constitution is a provision that the President may revoke.

What is Article 370?

Jammu and Kashmir, a territory in the northern part of the Indian subcontinent and a portion of the wider area of Kashmir that is claimed by China, Pakistan, and India, is granted special status under Article 370 of the Indian Constitution.

Article 370 is Just A Temporary Solution - The Supreme Court

Supreme Court Also Direct EC to Conduct Election in J&K

The Supreme Court also directed the EC to conduct elections in Jammu and Kashmir Till September, 30 2024.
