The stamp duty rates for the year 2024 for Jammu division will be notified and implemented from January 1, 2024 under the existing provisions. In this regard, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar on Saturday chaired the meeting of Divisional valuation Board to review the finalization of the new rates.

After threadbare discussion, the stamp duty rates were reviewed on the basis of the rates notified by Deputy Commissioners of all districts of the Jammu Division. The meeting discussed the fixation of stamp duty for different types of land as per the existing guidelines.

The Divisional Commissioner stressed that while calculating the stamp duty, the nature and type of land, viz., Irrigated, Un-irrigated, Residential, Commercial, road-side, upcoming approved developmental infrastructure in various areas, Structures, rate escalation and other factors will be given due consideration. The Deputy Commissioners apprised the Div Com about the percentage of hike in stamp duty rates while the Div Com also sought reasons for the hike.

The meeting was attended by Additional Inspector General Registrations, VC JDA, Director Survey and Land Records, Chief Engineer PWD, Assistant Commissioner Central, Director Agriculture, Chief Town Planner and other board members while all Deputy Commissioners of Jammu division along with ACRs participated in the meeting through video conferencing.
