World AIDS Day 2023 : GDC Vijaypur organises Candle Light Vigil

Government Degree College, Vijaypur under the supervision of the College principal, Prof. Dr. Vandana Gupta organized a Candle Light Vigil to observe World AIDS Day 2023. To commemorate the day, Red Ribbon Club and NSS Unit (KHIDMAT) of the college organized series of events including ‘Poster Making’, ‘Human Chain Formation’, ‘Candle Light Vigil’ etc. to inculcate among the college students the gravity of the problem-HIV infection/AIDS. Further they were also given knowledge about and various preventive measures which need to be adopted as responsible citizens to prevent AIDS.

Principal of the college, Prof. (Dr.) Vandana Gupta, while addressing the students, said that this annual event of World AIDS Day serves as a reminder of the global struggle to end HIV-related stigma and an opportunity to honor those we have lost, and a rallying cry to commit to working toward a day when HIV is no longer a public health threat.

Whole of the events under World AIDS Day were organized with the full support of senior faculty members of the college Prof. Anita Jamwal (HOD Political Science) and Dr. Anoop Bhagat (HOD Sociology). The event was coordinated by Prof. Ritu Bhagat (HOD Education) and co-coordinated by Dr. Manoj Heer (HOD Dogri), Dr. Naseem Chowdhary (NSS PO) and Dr. Priyanka Ganjoo (Lecturer Sociology).
