District Red Cross Branch, SAS Nagar organized a Blood Donation Camp in collaboration with Vishvas Foundation at DAC, here today. As many as  45 units of blood were collected at the camp  for  helping  the  Dengue patients.

Divulging  details, the Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain said that the camp was organized to meet the shortage of blood in Civil Hospital, Phase-6, Mohali due to the spread of  dengue . The camp was inaugurated by Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Viraj Shyamkaran Tidke, IAS in the presence of  Sub Divisional Magistrate  Chandrajyoti Singh, IAS and Assistant Commissioner (G) Harjot Kaur Mavi, PCS. On this occasion Saral Biswas and the entire team from Vishvas Foundation ,  Inspector Amandeep Singh, Incharge District Saanjh Kendra Mohali,among others, were present.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Viraj S Tidke encouraged the blood donors to donate more blood by putting  badges and awarding certificates to the blood donors. In this camp. He said that there is a misconception among people that donating blood causes weakness in the body. In fact, donating blood does not cause any weakness, and everyone should donate blood once after 90 days. This donation helps the needy as well as keeps the body healthy. A noble act like donating blood is of great service to the humankind, he added.

During the camp, Dr Sanyasharma BTO from Blood Bank Mohali and team were also coordinated by the Red Cross team and Red Cross member P S Virdi.

District Red Cross Branch Secretary Harbans Singh informed the people about the activities being conducted by the District Red Cross under the leadership of the Deputy Commissioner such as First Aid Training, Patient Care Attendant Service, Jan Aushadhi Stores, etc. He thanked the team of Vishvas Foundation and the team of Blood Bank, Civil Hospital, Mohali.
