Deputy Commissioner Mrs Aashika Jain led District Mineral Foundation has approved a fund of Rs 60 lakh as a matching grant to already demanded funds of Rs 60 lakh for repair of approaches of Mubarkpur railway under bridge in Derabassi from PWD, today, in a meeting held at District Administrative Complex, Mohali.

Divulging the more details, the Deputy Commissioner Mrs Jain said that the approaches had been got damaged during the floods and the Railway under Bridge was handed over to the PWD by the railway, so the maintenance work has to be done by the PWD.

For this, an estimate of Rs 1.20 crore has been prepared by the Public works department. Out of the total amount, half of the part has to be bore by the PWD while rest of the part by District Administration. Now, the District Administration has approved its part today and intimation in this regard would be sent to PWD head office for issuing rest of the amount to float tender as soon as possible.

Apart from that, the District Mineral Foundation has also given approval in principal to plant 12000 Bamboo tress alongwith the banks of Ghaggar and Tangri to strengthen the soil of across the both rivers. She said that the Bamboo trees to work as a protection from soil erosion.

Similarly, the Foundation also gave nod to provide gym kits/equipments to the 11 villages of Derabassi block. The villages have been chosen those which have been declared as Drug free, said the Deputy Commissioner by adding that this would further inspire the others also to get them self included into the list of drug free villages.

Each village would be given a gym kit/equipments worth Rs 2.5 lakh and thus Rs 27.5 lakh in total.She further said that the three public sand mines that had stopped work during floods have been resuming since the last two weeks and the cheaper sand at the rate of Rs 5.50 per cubic foot has been started to make available at the pit heads.

The transportation and loading cost would be bored by the purchaser, she added. The sites that have been resumed include Tangri-1, 2 and 5.The meeting was attended by the ADCs Viraj S Tidke, Damanjit Singh Mann, SDM Chandrajyoti Singh, AC (UT) Davy Goyal, Assistant Commissioner (G) Harjot Kaur Mavi, Chief Minister Field Officer Inder Pal besides DDPO Amaninder Pal Singh Caauhan and Executive Engineer-cum-District Mining Officer Rajat Garover.
