Deputy Commissioner Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa and SSP Dr. Akhil Chowdhury on Tuesday conducted a surprise check at the government hospital and drug de-addiction center on Tuesday morning. During the checking, many doctors were found absent, taking serious notice of which the Deputy Commissioner gave strict instructions to the Civil Surgeon to take action and submit a report.

Deputy Commissioner Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa along with SSP Dr Akhil Chowdhary visited the de-addiction center and inquired about the condition of the patients who came to take medicine and got detailed information about the medicines given to the patients by the doctor. The doctors gave detailed information to the Deputy Commissioner about the medicines given to the patients every day, one week and fifteen days.

After this, the stock register of medicines given by the Deputy Commissioner was carefully checked. Randhawa gave strict instructions to the doctors and said that at the time of registration of the patients, the registration should be done by taking the I-card of the concerned patient and the medicine should be given only to the patient. He also instructed the staff of the de-addiction center to behave properly with the patients.

Meanwhile, SSP Dr. Akhil Chowdhury also interacted with the officials of the de-addiction center and said that when a patient comes to them, the first thing to do is to check his ID. Registration should be done with i-D and after that information should be taken by counseling of the patient as to what kind of drug he takes and what is the reason for taking the drug. By counseling the patient, the concerned patient should be encouraged to give up drugs and special efforts should be made to strengthen him socially and mentally as far as possible.

Chaudhary said that only after counseling, the concerned patient should be sent to the doctor to take medicine and the doctor should motivate the patient to quit the drug, so that he can quit the drug by completing the course of medicine within the stipulated time and return to his family and social life. On this occasion, the district psychologist Dr. Rajan Shastri, SMO Dr. Satwinder Singh Bittu, the staff members of the government hospital were also present.
