The Jal Shakti Department, Hydraulic Division Kishtwar today organised a highly successful public grievances redressal camp here in the Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex. The event was presided over by Additional District Development Commissioner, Sham Lal and received valuable assistance from ExEn Jal Shakti, Sunil Kumar Sharma and technical team of  the Department.

The redressal camp witnessed active participation from approximately 300 attendees, including Municipal Council Kishtwar Ward Members, PRIs (Panchayati Raj Institutions) representatives from various Panchayats and residents of Kishtwar town.

During the camp, participants had the opportunity to bring forward their concerns and grievances related to the water supply in their respective areas. The people also inquired about the progress of ongoing water supply schemes in their areas. The issues pertaining to uninterrupted water supply were thoroughly discussed, aiming to find effective solutions.

The ADDC displayed unwavering patience and attentiveness as he listened to the grievances of the people and PRIs. He then proceeded to address the majority of these issues in consultation with the ExEn & technical staff of Jal Shakti Department.

During the event, the ADDC emphasized the vital role and responsibilities of Pani Samitis in ensuring the equitable distribution of water supply in the panchayats. He encouraged both the public and PRIs to collaborate in strengthening the Pani Samitis, thereby making the water distribution system more judicious.

The ADDC also stressed the need for mobilizing field functionaries to ensure that people do not face inconveniences or difficulties with their water supply. ExEn Jal Shakti Kishtwar, as a part of the redressal process, meticulously recorded all grievances.

The main issues that emerged during the camp included blockages in pipelines, leakages, interrupted water supply in various habitations, a shortage of adequate supply, illegal connections, and the need for a more equitable distribution system in Kishtwar town and its peripheral areas.

The Jal Shakti Department, Hydraulic Division Kishtwar, assures the public that every effort will be made to promptly address and resolve these concerns, ultimately ensuring a more efficient and reliable water supply system for the residents of Kishtwar.

At the public grievance camp, notable figures including PRIs and influential members of the Kishtwar community provided insightful suggestions, which were warmly received by the local administration and the dedicated team from the Jal Shakti Department.

During the event, the Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) took the opportunity to underscore the importance of expediting the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) schemes. He urged the Jal Shakti authorities to take concrete and immediate steps toward rationalizing water connections, addressing blockages, and rectifying leaks at various locations.

These efforts are crucial in ensuring a seamless and efficient water supply system for the community. Furthermore, the Executive Engineer (ExEn) from Jal Shakti Department reaffirmed the commitment to promptly address and redress the grievances raised by the participants, demonstrating the department's dedication to resolving water-related issues in Kishtwar.

The people of Kishtwar appreciated the administration and the Jal Shakti Department to organise such camps and expected more such Camps in the future. The ADDC and Jal Shakti Department thanked participants for their presence and for making this camp a success.
