A delegation from the UAE led by the Supreme Audit Institution headed by SAI President, His Excellency Humaid Obaid Abushibs has participated in the 9th meeting of the GCC Anti-Corruption Ministerial Committee, which was held in the Omani capital, Muscat, on Monday, 30th October, in the presence of His Excellency, Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf and the chairs and presidents of SAI’s in the GCC states.

The meeting, which was chaired by His Excellency Sheikh Ghosn bin Hilal Al-Alawi, Chairman of State Financial and Administrative Audit Institution in Oman, discussed the many strategic topics that contribute to strengthening the principles of transparency and integrity in GCC countries. The members also discussed the UAE’s experience in promoting the principles of integrity and transparency in preserving public funds.

The meeting discussed several subjects, such as elevating knowledge and research in auditing and accountability, delving into best practices for auditing, and fostering a culture rooted in integrity, transparency, and accountability across different companies and entities. This, in turn, aims to promote sustainable development across diverse sectors and domains.

Commenting on the participation, a spokesperson from SAI said: “Our involvement in this meeting stems from our unwavering commitment to bolster communication and collaboration among agencies focused on audit responsibilities. We aim to strengthen integrity, which in turn aids in realising strategic goals, particularly in advancing expertise in audit practices and fortifying institutional capacities related to training, development, and knowledge dissemination.”
