As part of National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas), the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad Tuesday flagged-off ‘Run for Unity’ to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The ‘Run for Unity’, which began from the Konan Chowk, witnessed the participation of a large number of people, including a galaxy of students, sports personalities, senior citizens, youth besides officials and PRIs. The 1.5km run came to an end at Mini Secretariat Bandipora, where the participants were received with great enthusiasm.

Addressing the participants, the DC said that everyone in the country is proud of Patel’s contribution to India before it attained freedom and during the early years after the nation became independent.Later, a unity pledge was administered in the Conference Hall where all participants gathered including DDC Chairperson Bandipora, Abdul Gani Bhat; DC Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad, besides others including senior officers of District Administration, solemnly pledged to dedicate themselves for preserving the unity, integrity, and security of the nation and also strive hard to spread this message among fellow countrymen.
