Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday said that the roads in the northeastern region of the country will become like those in the US by the end of 2024.According to Gadkari, in the northeastern region, infrastructure development projects of 17,470 km in length have been undertaken. 

The Minister of Road Transport and Highways emphasized that the Centre's goals for the area will assist regional contractors. emphasized that the Centre's goals for the area will assist regional contractors. 

"We are going to give work to contractors here instead of those from outside. We found that they are performing well," the Union Minister said. He went on to explain all of the previous, current, and upcoming initiatives in Assam, estimating that the government will pay almost Rs 1 lakh crore for 248 projects.

Gadkari said: "In Assam, we have completed 48 projects spanning 802 km. There are upcoming projects worth Rs 40,863 crores for which land acquisition has already started."
