Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla offered floral tributes to India's first woman Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi on her death anniversary at the historic Ridge here today. Emphasizing the contribution of Indira Gandhi in the development of the Nation, the Governor said that the people of the country will always remember her for vision and decision making. Popularly known as 'Iron Lady' of India she took bold decision and nationalization of banks was one of them.
While interacting with the media, the Governor mentioned that 31st October is also the birth anniversary of 'Iron Man' Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. This day is also celebrated as National Unity Day throughout the country. Sardar Patel envisioned a united India and played a pivotal role in uniting the small princely states of the country to form Bharat.The Governor also administered the oath of national unity to the gathering.
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, Health Minister Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil, Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh, MLA Harish Janartha and Kuldeep Singh Rathor, Mayor Municipal Corporation Shimla Surender Chauhan, Councilors, Deputy Commissioner Aditya Negi and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
