ADGP Mukhwinder Singh Chhina, today, said that Punjab Police was fully capable of responding to anti-national forces and no body would be allowed to disrupt peace and unity of the nation. MS Chhina was paying homage to the martyrs of the police and paramilitary forces at the premises of Patiala Police Line on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day Parade.

"The sacrifices of these great martyrs will always be a source of inspiration for us," said, Chhina by adding that Punjab has a border of about 550 km with Pakistan and the neighboring country and ISI always tried to disrupt the peace and unity of our Nation especially Punjab for the last many years by one and another way.

''We have faced terrorism nearly a decade, due to these conspiracies, and we have lost a total of 1784 police personnel and their family members including 157 martyrs from Patiala range during the war against terrorism," he added. He said that due to their great sacrifices, peace prevailed in Punjab today.

He further said that although the neighboring state was not shying away from making a mess even today in the shape of narco terrorism but the Punjab police was fully capable of giving a blunt answer and the nefarious designs of any anti-national force would not be allowed to succeed.

He said that the day is commemorated in the holy memory of the 10 great martyrs of CRPF who were killed by the Chinese Army at Hot Spring, Ladakh on October 21, 1959 during their duty of patrolling along the border. SSP Varun Sharma while saluting the families of the martyrs, said that it was due to the sacrifices of these great martyrs that peace had been restored and we cannot repay the value of the grief of these families.

Meanwhile, ADGP Mukhwinder Singh  Chhina, Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney, SSP Varun Sharma, along with present and former police officers including the families of the martyrs, laid wreaths at the memorial of the martyrs. A police contingent led by DSP (P) Jashandeep Singh Mann saluted the martyrs with mourning salute following a two-minute silence.

DSP (H) Dalbir Singh read out the names of all the police and paramilitary officers and jawans who lost their lives across the country during the last year.  Later, ADGP and SSP honoured the families of martyrs and also listened to the grievances of the families.
