Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam today chaired a meeting of officers and officials of concerned departments to  review progress on registration of beneficiaries under ‘PM Vishwakarma Scheme’ recently launched by the Government to facilitate and honour traditional skills of craftspeople and their exemplary commitment and contributions in economic growth of the society.

Additional Deputy Commissioner, Harbans Sharma, CPO, Dr. Kasturi Lal, General Manager, DIC, Ravinder Anand, ACD, Ashok Singh, Dy. DEO, Lal Chand, CEO, MC Ramban, LDM, and other officers of concerned departments attended the meeting.

Directing the concerned departments for ensuring cent per cent registration of eligible beneficiaries under the schemes, the Deputy Commissioner asked the Coordinator of CSC centers  to provide services to the beneficiaries on priority basis to ensure timely achievement of targets.         

The Deputy Commissioner directed all the stakeholders to extend the benefits of this scheme to eligible beneficiaries across the district to transform the lives of the artisans and craftspeople working with their hands and tools. It will ensure the Vishwakarmas are provided with financial assistance, skill up-gradation and they are integrated with the modern technology of different skills and craft related works during their necessary short-term training.

The Deputy Commissioner said that the Government has recognized more than 29 other crafts and brought them under the ambit of handicrafts and handloom sector. He directed the GM, DIC to start the process of registration and issuance of ID cards as per guidelines in close coordination with Assistant Labour Commissioner and other line departments.

The meeting was informed that the scheme offers a range of benefits including toolkit incentive of Rs 15,000, training to artisans, Rs 500 per day during training, collateral-free credit support up to Rs 1 lakh (first tranche) and Rs 2 lakh (second tranche) at a concessional interest rate of 5 percent incentives for digital transactions and marketing support.
