Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, inaugurated the Inter-District Division Level Tournament in Chess discipline under 17 and 19 years Girls sections at Government Model Higher Secondary School, Ramban. Among others, District Youth Services and Sports Officers, Dharamvir Singh, Principal, Government Model Higher Secondary School, Ramban, K.K Sharma and ZPEOs of different zones of Ramban District were present on the occasion.
Inter-District Division Level Tournament started at Model HSS Ramban with great enthusiasm in which districts of Jammu province including Kishtwar, Samba, Doda, Udhampur, Kathua, Ramban, Jammu and Rajouri participated in the tournament.
The tournament was organized by the Department of the Youth Service and Sports Ramban under the aegis of Director, Youth Services & Sports J&K, Subash Chander Chhibber and being supervised by District Youth Services and Sports Officers, Ramban.
Hailing the initiative of the department, the Deputy Commissioner said that such events should be organized regularly for promotion of sports, besides inculcating passion for sports among the youth. "This will create sportsmanship and a sense of team spirit among them and there is no dearth of talent in the district", he added.
Terming the sports as a potent tool for overall personality development, the Deputy Commissioner said that district Ramban is endowed with enormous sports potential for which District Administration is creating required infrastructure to provide an appropriate platform to youth of the district.
While welcoming the Chief Guest and the participants in District, DYSSO dwelt in details about the tournament. He highlighted different schemes and sports programmes of the Department of Youth Services. He advised the participants to actively take part in sports activities, saying that the Government has launched various schemes for the benefit of extra-ordinary sports persons.
