District Administration Kishtwar today discussed arrangements for the upcoming festival season here at a meeting of the officers from the line departments and civil society members chaired by District Development Commissioner (In Charge) Sham Lal. The meeting had a detailed discussion on the proposed arrangements for Navratri, Ramnavmi, Charri, and Dussehra festivals. The meeting took place in  the Conference Hall, DC Office Complex, Kishtwar.

The meeting engaged in a thorough discussion with the representatives of Sanatan Dharm Sabha and Adarsh Dramatic Club Kishtwar who provided valuable suggestions on various issues, including sanitation, uninterrupted electricity, regular and safe drinking water, security arrangements, traffic management, decoration of temples, adequate stocks of ration and firewood. They also discussed checking rates and the quality of food items.

The DC emphasized the importance of maintaining cleanliness and hygiene besides ensuring proper limelining at festive venues, in and around the temples and directed the concerned departments to promote the message of sanitation. He asked the police authorities to provide adequate security arrangements at temples and conduct necessary night checkings. The chair also called for interdepartmental coordination to put in place all necessary arrangements well in time for the smooth celebration of the festival.

He asked the PHE and PDD Departments to take all measures to provide uninterrupted water and power supply. The PDD was asked to ensure proper lighting arrangements in addition to uninterrupted power supply throughout the festival season and to ensure the provision of a generator set at the Ram Leela venue. The Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs authorities were directed to ensure an adequate Ration and LPG cylinder for the festival. Besides, in collaboration with Tehsildar Kishtwar, they were asked to keep a check on the rates and quality of food items being sold during the festival through regular market checking.

The Health Department was directed to keep sufficient provision for Medicare facilities and medical staff. Other arrangements for ensuring foolproof traffic management during festive processions, stage settings, and barricading in Chowgan Ground on Dussehra, along with other necessary safety arrangements, were discussed, and necessary directions were given to the concerned.
