The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), in its relentless campaign against corruption in the state, made two significant arrests on Friday during which Dr. Vikramjit Jindal, a Medical Officer at Civil Hospital Kotkapura in District Faridkot, and Gurmail Singh, a Ward Attendant at the same hospital, were apprehended for accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.

According to the complaint, Harpreet Singh and his wife were admitted to Civil Hospital Kotkapura after sustaining injuries during an altercation with another individual. During their treatment, Dr. Vikramjit Jindal allegedly demanded Rs 5,000 to issue a medico-legal report (MLR) and provide them with improved medical care.

The following day, the doctor visited the ward to examine the complainant and informed him of a broken bone in his hand. To include this injury also in the MLR, Dr. Vikramjit Jindal demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000, which was later settled at ₹10,000.
