In continued efforts to fortify the impact of the Sankalp Saptah campaign, the Poshan Nutrition Melas were hosted across 76 Anganwadi centers of Aspirational Block Marwah on the second day of the week-long programme.The activities were held under the overall supervision of Deputy Commissioner and under the close supervision of PO ICDS, Dr Rishi Kumar Sharma.

These events were focused on the theme "Suposhit Pariwaar-Poshan Mela." Aligned with the Aspirational Block Programme, these activities aimed to promote comprehensive well-being of AWC beneficiaries, through initiatives such as Growth Monitoring of children, Weighing of Pregnant Women, Godh Bharai, and Annaprasan Ceremonies.

Adding vibrancy to the community engagement, "Chaupal pe Baat" sessions were held which emphasized the importance of "Santulit Aaahar" (Balanced Diet) and "Mera Paushtik Bageecha" (My Nutritious Garden), along with insightful discussions on the Best Practices of Kitchen Gardening.

The primary focus of these activities was to address Nutritional Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), ensuring a holistic approach toward achieving optimal nutrition for families within the Aspirational Block Marwah. The Growth Monitoring of children not only tracks their physical development but also ensures early detection of any nutritional concerns, allowing for timely intervention.

Weighing of Pregnant Women is a crucial element to monitor the health of both the expecting mother and the unborn child. The God Bharai and Annaprasan Ceremonies celebrated the journey of life, placing a spotlight on the significance of nutrition during these milestones.

"Chaupal pe Baat" sessions delved into promoting a balanced diet and cultivating nutritious gardens at the household level, promoting sustainable practices that contribute to the overall health and well-being of families.

These collective efforts underline ICDS project district Kishtwar,s commitment to advancing the objectives of Sankalp Saptah and the Aspirational Block Programme. By addressing the Nutritional KPIs, aim is to lay the foundation for healthier and thriving communities in Marwah Block.

The Enthusiastic Participation of Local PRIs, AWWs, Lactating and pregnant ladies, Adolescent girls, Anganwari going Children besides locals in these Anganwadi centres make these events a resounding success.Meanwhile, Swasth Balak Balika Sarpadha was organized at PO ICDS Office Kishtwar to promote child welfare and health.

The event saw the presence of Dr Rishi Kumar Sharma (PO-ICDS), Dr M Y Mir, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kishtwar, Dr Yudhveer Singh Kotwal (Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Kishtwar), CDPOs,  MO RBSK, Supervisors, Anganwari Workers (AWW) and the mothers of Anganwadi-going children. All of them participated in the program with enthusiasm.

The event included a quantitative estimation of hemoglobin levels of all child beneficiaries, coupled with growth monitoring activities involving height and weight measurements. The occasion also recognized and felicitated healthy boys and girls.

In his address, the CMO shed light on nutritional deficiencies among children, emphasizing health interventions, immunization programs for pregnant mothers and newborns. He provided crucial counseling to participating mothers regarding their diet and the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
