One of the most renowned Canada based Punjabi singer Shubh has landed himself into massive controversies for supporting Khalistan elements amid the tensions going on between Canada and India after the killing of Khalistani leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar. The singer took to his Instagram stories and shared a cryptic post which landed him into trouble while public backlashing him ahead of his tour with boAt withdrawing sponsorship with him.
Speaking about Shubh’s story he took to his Instagram and shared a distorted map of India with Punjab and Haryana blackened and ‘Pray For Punjab’ written along with it. The story caused issues for the singer and he started receiving backlashes from the public reacting to which boAt withdrew the sponsorship from the tour after all the claims made.
boAt posted an official statement in which they wrote, “At boAt, while our commitment to the incredible music community runs deep, we are first & foremost a true Indian brand. Therefore, when we became aware of the remarks made by artist Shubh earlier this year, we chose to withdraw our sponsorship from the tour. We will continue to foster a vibrant music culture in India and create platforms to where emerging artists can show their talent.”
Because of supporting separatist Khalistani elements, BJYM has accused him with these allegations and demanded to cancel his upcoming Indian tour following which people tore the posters of his concert in anger. On this the president of BJYM gave his statement to Hindustan Times in which he said, “There is no space for Khalistanis who are the enemy of the integrity and unity of India. We won’t allow Canadian singer Shubh to perform in the auspicious land of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Mumbai. If no proper action is taken, then the organizers will have to face our opposition.”
Not only this, Shubh’s one of the biggest celebrity fan, legendary Indian cricketer Virat Kohli who once adored him a lot has unfollowed him on Social media amid the allegations and the post shared by him. However, Shubh has still not responded over the ongoing controversy, so all eyes are on his statement.
