Municipal Committee Bhaderwah (MCB) today launched Swachhata Pakhwada & Swachhata Hi Seva here at New Bus Stand, Government Higher Secondary School Boys, Seri Bazar and at Mohalla Masjid. Delivering the keynote address, MCB Executive Officer, Sanjay Kumar Sharma, explained that Swachhata Pakhwada & Swachhata Hi Seva, a fortnight drive under swacch Bharat mission 2.0 has been launched to carry out a series of cleanliness operations from September 16 to October 2, 2023.
In Bhaderwah, the event has already commenced from September 15 at 6 a.m. with the participation in the ‘Indian Swachhata League 2.O. The launch programme was a joint collaboration for the SBM urban with educational institutions. various activities and programmes.
The EO said that the main focus would be to mobilize youth including students, activists, Social Organizations and civil society members to carry out cleanliness drives across the Town. He appealed to all to encourage the youth of the colonies to participate in the event.
The event was flagged off by Vice President Municipal Committee Bhaderwah. It was mentioned that along with the launch of the programme, “Safai Mitra” would be provided opportunity for health check-up, as well as avail the insurance scheme provided by the government.
While reiterating MC's commitment to weed out the menace of single use plastic, he appealed to people to cooperate with the civic authorities by opting environment friendly alternatives for the banned material. "Although a series of awareness campaigns have been carried out, yet the use of single-use plastic continues, especially for commercial purposes," he said and suggested remediate action to control the menace.
He hoped that the community will rise up to the occasion by willingly stopping the plastic use to keep the town clean henceforth. Earlier, the Municipal Committee successfully organized the Swachhta Pakhwada and Indian Swachhta League 2.0, along with the Safari Mitra Survekshan Shivir event, under the aegis of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India.
During the event, speeches on Swachhta Pakhwada were delivered by a student and a teacher from the school and the officials of municipality. The program featured various activities including a theme song presentation, the administration of the Swachh Pledge, and community services.
