Government Degree College Ramgarh today organized a Digital Logo-Making Session for the students of the College as a part of the series of the activities to be organized by the College during the ‘J&K Digital Week-2023’.

The activities are organized by the NSS unit ‘Prabha’ and Department of Computer Application under the guidance and coordination of Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra, Principal of the College.The organizing committee of the events to be held during the J&K Digital Week-2023 includes Dr. Shamsher Lal, Dr. Rahul Kundal, and Mr. Sunil Kumar.

On the occasion, Dr. Shamsher Lal, NSS Program Officer and Coordinator, said that since we live in the 21st century, it is important to possess skills of the current times. At present, having knowledge about something is not enough. Students should have the capability of practically putting that knowledge into practice and be able to bring something fruitful to the table. Students must learn digital skills. He added that the ‘Digital Logo-Making Session’ has enabled the students to learn such skills.

Sunil Kumar, faculty in the Department of Computer Application, conducted the session in which he taught the students about how to make digital logos using simple computer software and tools. 

He said that while reading and mathematics have remained steadily at the core of education, the digital literacy curriculum is being accepted as a necessity in today’s educational systems. 

This critical life skill is important not only for career readiness, but also for education and socialization. The importance of digital literacy skills for students is becoming more and more apparent as technology continues to envelop the daily lives of both children and adults. 

From social interactions to entertainment, education to professional life, the ability to use technology effectively is now considered essential for modern advancement and success. He added that one of the first reasons digital literacy skills are important is because of the increased use of technology in education. 

The use of technology as a learning tool has grown in the past 15 years, with technology platforms such as computers, tablets and the internet becoming increasingly prominent in K-12 schools and universities.

The faculty members who were present include- Dr. Aditi Khajuria, Prof. Seema Sharma, Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Dr. Shamsher Lal, Prof. Risha Kumari, Dr. Ekta Rani, Dr. Rahul Kundal, Mr. Sunil Kumar, Dr. Shivali Choudhary, Ms. Priya Sharma, and Dr. Paramjeet Kour.
