Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu conducted a comprehensive review of multiple projects underway in Hamirpur district during a late evening meeting on Sunday at Hamipur. 

Reviewing the four-lane construction of the Shimla-Mataur road, he said this project involves the construction of 12 tunnels and 22 major bridges, including a medium width of 5 meters to enhance the aesthetic appeal, at an estimated cost of Rs. 9900 crore.  

He said that this upgraded road would reduce travel time and serve as a vital transportation link for seven districts in the State.The Chief Minister directed the authorities to ensure that all villages in Hamirpur district with a population of over one hundred residents are connected with road facilities by 31st March, 2024.

He said that under PMGSY-II, 21 roads have been approved for construction at a cost of about Rs. 180 crore, while under RIDF at a cost of Rs. 426 crore construction of 162 roads has been completed, 23 roads are under progress and DPR of 21 has been submitted. 

On the other hand, under CRIF, 7 projects worth Rs. 73 crore have been approved, out of which work on 6 has been completed, while work on one scheme was in progress. Quality work on these roads should be ensured to provide better facilities for the people, he said.

Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu also highlighted ongoing construction work on 40 buildings in the district, with a total cost of Rs. 144 crore. He said that the target was to complete 15 of these buildings within the current financial year. 

He stressed the need to initiate the process of constructing staff quarters for all personnel stationed at the police stations in Hamirpur district, including IRB Jungalbari. Additionally, he instructed the appointment of a consultant pertaining to the construction of bus stands in Hamirpur, Bhota, Sujanpur, Bhoranj, Barsar, and Nadaun so that people could be facilitated.

The Chief Minister also directed to underground overhead wires in Hamirpur city and create ducts for the PWD, JSV, and BSNL departments. A trial of this project will commence from the Bus Stand Hamirpur to Bhota Chowk. 

He also discussed the plans to install two electric vehicle chargers each at the workshop and Hamirpur bus stand, while ensuring power supply for the upcoming e-bus depot in Nadaun.Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu emphasized the need for adequate electricity and water supply at Hamirpur Medical College. 

He instructed the Jal Shakti Vibhag to install water purification systems using UV rays in 31 drinking water projects across the district.The Chief Minister directed the police to intensify efforts to combat drug trafficking and create awareness programs to protect the younger generation from the clutches of addiction. 

Earlier, he also launched an e-office system at the Deputy Commissioner's office and said that it is expected to streamline file work processes and enhance efficiency. MLAs I.D. Lakhanpal, Ashish Sharma and Suresh Kumar, Chairman Kangra Cooperative Bank Kuldeep Singh Pathania, Congress leader Dr. Pushpinder Verma, Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa, Superintendent of Police Aakriti Sharma and other officers were also present in the meeting.
