Hundreds of Punjabi students are on protest in Canada after facing deportation due to a fraud done to them by providing them fake offer letters through which they entered the country. They have been protesting on the roads day and night and requesting the Canadian government to withdraw their decision of deportation of the students.
Students are getting full support from the politicians in Canada. Even the Punjabi singers Sharry Mann and Elly Mangat have extended their support to the protesting students while visiting and meeting them in person. More people in industry are coming with support as now Nimrat Khaira and Ninja have posted for justice to students on their respective social media handles.
But now there is a big relief for the students as the deportation has been put on hold by the Canadian government. Aam Aadmi Party MP Vikramjit Singh Sahney said, "We have written to them and we have explained to them that these students have not done any forgery or fraud. They are victims of fraud because some unauthorised agents issued fake admission letters and receipts of payments. Visas were also applied without any checking. Then when the children reached there, the immigration dept also allowed them to enter."
Know About The Protest In Detail:-
This protest was started on 5 June in Toronto after Canadian authorities started the removal proceedings of Lovepreet Singh from Canada and was directed to leave the country by 13 June. This was directed to him after the authorities found out that the offer letter on the basis of which he came to the country on a study permit 6 years ago was fake.
The CBSA (Canada Border Services Agency) conducted an investigation in which they found out that all the students who entered the country through Mishra’s firm Education and Migration Services between 2016 and 2020 had fraudulent offer letters after which they were served Deportation notices. Over 700 students hailing from Punjab are facing deportation over these fake documents due to a Jalandhar-based consultant, Brijesh Mishra.
Brijesh Mishra provided the students with fake offer letters from renowned colleges and universities. He fakes the letters so professionally that even the embassy officials could not detect those are fake. The students found out they were not enrolled in those colleges after visiting their respective institutions after which Brijesh made excuses and manipulated them by persuading them to wait for a semester or take admission in another educational institution.
