The matter of Gurdwara Guru Dangmar Sahib located in Sikkim has been resolved due to the important role of the Chairman of the National Minority Commission Mr. Iqbal Singh Lalpura. Prof Sarchand Singh, Adviser of the National Minority Commission, said that the Hon'ble High Court of Sikkim (on 27.04.2023) has passed an order in favor of the Sikh community keeping in mind the request of the Additional Advocate General of the state. 

With which now the holy Guru Granth Sahib will be PARKASH in the historic Gurdwara Guru Dangmar associated with Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The rest of the formalities will be completed mutually by the petitioners and the respondents.

Prof. Sarchand Singh told that on August 14, 2017, due to the forced stopping of the holy Guru Granth Sahib Ji from Gurdwara Guru Dangmar, the Chairman of the National Minority Commission Mr. Iqbal Singh to resolve this sensitive issue that has been pending for a long time. 

Lalpura showed keen interest and continued to pursue. In December, 2017, the National Commission on Minorities took cognizance of media reports about Gurdwara Dang Mar Sahib located at Guru Dang Mar in Sikkim. 

Where some items related to religious devotion were removed from the shrine and placed on the road. This incident hurt the sentiments of the entire Sikh community. The Sikh community continued to strive for the restoration of the light of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. In response to the report, the state government said that the matter is under WP(C) 49/2017 in the Sikkim High Court. 

In this petition, the petition of the Guru Singh Sabha seeks restoration of the dignity of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji at Gurdwara Guru Dang Mar, restoration of the Nishan Sahib, restoration of all interior furniture and other sacred objects in the Gurdwara complex to the condition prior to 16.08.2017. 

was accompanied and directed the State Government and the local authorities to take or refrain from taking any action to demolish the structure of the Gurdwara. On which the High Court through its order dated 13.09.2017 gave instructions to maintain the status quo. 

Following this, the National Commission for Minorities (NCM), Government of India received petitions from the Sikh community regarding the status of the Gurdwara in 2017 and the National Commission for Minorities (NCM) in August, 2018 and October, 2018. .M.) hearings were held but despite this not much progress could be made. 

In this matter, the State Government, apart from informing the above details, said that this matter is currently under consideration in the Hon'ble High Court of Sikkim and as per the order of the court dated 13.09.2017, the status quo has been maintained. 

Now that the matter has been resolved due to the efforts of NCM Chairman Mr. Lalpura, Prof. Sarchand Singh thanked God on this occasion and also thanked Mr. Lalpura and Chief Minister of Sikkim Sarv Shri Prem Singh Tamang. have done He said that this decision which came after 4 years will help in making the environment comfortable.

Amarpal Singh Khaira District Vice President, Gursahib Singh Rampuria, Kulwant Singh Bheil, Jaswant Singh Sohal, Sukhjit Singh Biharipur, Gulzar Singh Jahangir Sahib Singh Suga, Upkardeep Prince, Ashok Bunty, Prince Lalpura were also present on this occasion.
