MP (Rajya Sabha) Sanjeev Arora along with MC Commissioner Dr Shena Aggarwal, senior officials of Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana and leading industrialists including Kamal Oswal, Vice Chairman and MD at Nahar Industrial Enterprises Ltd today took a round of the Focal Point to have a first-hand information on the existing roads infrastructure in these areas.
During this round, a total around 33-Kms distance was covered. The areas visited included Sherpur-Dhandari road, roads in the surroundings of Aarti Steels Ltd, Nahar Industrial Enterprises Ltd, Monte Carlo Fashion Ltd, Rockman Industries Ltd, R & D Centre for Bicycle and Sewing Machine, Customs Office and other adjoining areas.
Earlier, a detailed meeting was held between Arora and MC Commissioner. Kamal Oswal was also present at this meeting. Oswal highlighted the industry's point of view on the meeting. Arora laid stress to start work on reconstruction of roads as soon as possible so that long-pending demand of reconstruction of roads in these areas can be met.
Meanwhile, Arora said MC Commissioner Dr Shena Aggarwal has assured him that, Municipal Corporation will be making proposals to take up the project to reconstruct roads in Focal Point Phase 1, 2 and 3. He said the MC Commissioner has on the spot directed the concerned officials to prepare estimates for reconstruction of the roads so that the work can be completed at the earliest.
MC Commissioner assured that most of the roads will be relayed in concrete for longer life, he said. He appreciated the MC Commissioner for giving prompt directions to the concerned officials.Arora added, “I’m hopeful that there will be a complete facelift of the roads in Focal Point Phase 1, 2 and 3 in the near future”, adding that he would soon try to get work of reconstruction of roads started in the other areas also.
He hoped that the industries might feel a sigh of relief once these roads are reconstructed. He hoped that today's meeting and tour of the area is about to show positive results very soon.It may be mentioned here that the roads in Focal Point and surrounding areas are lying in pathetic condition over the years.
Big potholes are seen developed on the roads. The rain water accumulates during rains, resulting in a great difficulty is being faced by the industrial units located on both sides of these roads.Many industry big-wigs have approached Arora to take an initiative and get the roads reconstructed.
With his initiative, the State Government has already allocated a sum of Rs 35 crore to the Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation (PSIEC) for reconstructing different roads in the Focal Point area. Some roads fall within the jurisdiction of Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana. This was why Arora alongwith MC Commissioner and other officials took a round of the concerned area today.
